IN SCHOOL=SUCCESS IN LIFE
The NAACP, People for the American Way Foundation,
Eastman Kodak Company and The Advertising Council have
joined forces to help spur more parent involvement in
the education of their children.Backed by recent studies
revealing that parental involvement has a major impact
on the success of their child's education, the groups
have launched a nationwide grassroots and media campaign
aimed at increasing parent involvement. The ad campaign
is expected to reach 25,000 media outlets nationwide.

REPORT
GETTING TO POSITIVE OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN IN CHILD CARE
This new report highlights key discussions from two
workshops sponsored by the National Academy for Sciences
Board on Children, Youth and Families. It highlights
discussions about the context in which child care
performance measures are being defined and used, the
challenges and tensions in the field about measurement
and assessment, and summarizes a process for developing
a performance measurement system, including examples of
innovative state efforts.

This dynamic and powerful tool was designed by staff in
our information technology section to help educators,
administrators, parents, and community members better
understand our public schools in Washington State. It
contains important information about our K-12 community
that is directly pertinent to you and your family.
There is a report card for each school. You will find
general information about school demographics, student
academic performance, and staff characteristics. There
is also detailed performance information for educators.
An announcement will be coming out from OSPI to district
Superintendent informing them of this new website. In
our effort to provide the best possible report, we are
seeking input from as many constituency groups as
possible. We ask that you take a few minutes to
navigate the site and provide us with any comments,
suggestions, etc. that you might have.Comments should be
