Here are some recommendations to help your student during the 2015-16 school year at their best:
- Sleep: With it being light out later, this time of year can be difficult to get your child to bed on time. Their requirement for sleep of at least 8 hours per night remains constant, however. Stick to a regular bedtime and they will perform better and stay healthier.
- Attendance: Every day the teachers at Northport School are working to prepare students to master college and career readiness standards. Missed days mean catch up work and missing out on important conversations and information that happens when topics are introduced or reviewed. Please work to schedule doctor, dental, and other appointments after the school day and make sure that your student arrives to school on time and ready to learn.
- Communication: Frequent communication between home and school is a significant predictor of student success. Call, stop in, and email your child’s teacher(s) and let them know you are supportive and care about what happens during the school day. They will be more than happy to set aside time to communicate with you about your child’s success and ways to help them grow even more.
Thank you for entrusting your child’s education to Northport School District. I am convinced that if we continue to work together we can ensure that we reach our goal of becoming the highest achieving school in the Region.
