"We inspire lifelong success by empowering students with knowledge, skills, and opportunities."

       A beautiful fall morning
Superintendent's Welcome

Welcome to Northport and the State and Nationally Award-winning Northport Schools!  Northport School District was founded in the 1900’s and has over the years been home to award winning student scholars, athletes, activities and teams.  Our instruction is delivered by an outstanding and caring group of educators and is based upon a rigorous curriculum. We offer our students a very rich program of studies throughout the entire school, from Early Childhood through 12th grade including the availability of Spanish, French & many College in the Classroom courses.  We are the recipient of the US Department of Education “No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon School” for excellence, The School of Distinction Award, The Washington State School of Excellence award and the Johns Hopkins University Certificate of Recognition and numerous Washington Achievement Awards.  We have been the recipient of 18 prestigious academic awards in the last nine years.

Our mission is primarily to serve the community of students with a life skills training that enables students to prepare for employment and/or attend colleges and universities.

You will find on these web pages a glimpse of our school and its offerings for our students and the community. Our enthusiastic, multi -talented faculty and staff come from many different backgrounds which brings a wonderful perspective to the school.  There are currently many students who attend school at home through a Parent Partnership Program called Homelink.   The faculty, staff and parents are continually working together to keep our evolving curriculum and program offerings in line with changing world demands in order to prepare students for a future of work and service.

Communication is one major key to a successful school.  The doors of our school, classrooms and offices are always open to our school community.  If you have particular questions you can contact the faculty or any member of the administration.  Faculty e-mail addresses can be found on the first page of the web site.

Here are some recommendations to help your student during the 2015-16 school year at their best:

  1. Sleep:  With it being light out later, this time of year can be difficult to get your child to bed on time.  Their requirement for sleep of at least 8 hours per night remains constant, however.  Stick to a regular bedtime and they will perform better and stay healthier.
  2. Attendance:  Every day the teachers at Northport School are working to prepare students to master college and career readiness standards.  Missed days mean catch up work and missing out on important conversations and information that happens when topics are introduced or reviewed.  Please work to schedule doctor, dental, and other appointments after the school day and make sure that your student arrives to school on time and ready to learn.
  3. Communication:  Frequent communication between home and school is a significant predictor of student success.  Call, stop in, and email your child’s teacher(s) and let them know you are supportive and care about what happens during the school day.  They will be more than happy to set aside time to communicate with you about your child’s success and ways to help them grow even more.

Thank you for entrusting your child’s education to Northport  School District.  I am convinced that if we continue to work together we can ensure that we reach our goal of becoming the highest achieving school in the Region.

Sincerely,
Don Baribault
